Don't be afraid to fail

If you leave a job to start your own company and you fail, you are still more valuable than you were at your old job as you will have learned so much from trying to build something new.

As entrepreneurs, we're often told that failure is not an option. We're taught to avoid risk and play it safe, fearful of the consequences of failure. But the truth is, failure is not only a natural part of the entrepreneurial journey – it's also a valuable learning experience that can help us grow both personally and professionally.

At Kukri Labs, we believe that failure is not something to be feared, but rather embraced. When we take risks and step outside of our comfort zones, we open ourselves up to new opportunities and experiences. And even if we don't succeed in the classical sense, we still walk away with valuable lessons that can help us improve and grow.

Take, for example, the story of one of our community, Jackie. Jackie left their stable job to pursue their dream of starting their own company. Despite their hard work and dedication, their venture ultimately failed. But instead of viewing themself as a failure, Jackie chose to see the experience as an opportunity to learn and grow. They took the time to reflect on what went wrong and what he could do differently next time, and he emerged from the experience with a newfound sense of purpose and determination.

Today, Jackie is more valuable than ever before. Their experience starting their own company taught them skills they never could have learned in a traditional corporate setting – skills like resilience, adaptability, and creativity. And while their first venture may not have succeeded, they're now better equipped to tackle new challenges and pursue new opportunities.

The same principle applies to all of us. Whether we're starting our own companies or working within established organisations, we must embrace the possibility of failure if we want to truly reach our full potential. As Thomas Edison famously said, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Each mistake and setback brings us closer to success, provided we're willing to learn from them.

So don't be afraid to fail. Instead, view each failure as an opportunity to learn and grow. Embrace risk and take chances, knowing that each step forward brings you closer to achieving your goals. And remember, the most successful people are those who have learned to embrace failure as a stepping stone to success.
